‘The Crawler’ is a hybrid machine-creature that processes obsolete beings—outdated forms and exhausted matter—and reconstitutes them into functional entities. Its body is encased in insulation panels, a material designed to maintain internal stability, here reimagined as a symbolic membrane that protects and conceals the volatile transformation within. Its wheels, made from corrugated drainpipes, evoke systems designed to channel waste. This machine inhabits a not-so-hypothetical landscape where progress is parasitic—feeding on burnout and breakdown to generate the next iteration. ‘The Crawler’ questions what we discard, what we preserve, and what we become in the process.
